Uplands

An Iconic
Architectural Community

Uplands is a new architecturally significant 55-acre community woven into the hillside of the British Properties. Emerging from a forested backdrop of emerald green, Uplands soars above the cobalt waters of Burrard Inlet and the Georgia Strait, offering panoramas of sea, sky and downtown Vancouver – just 18 minutes away.

Uplands represents the most diverse range of housing British Pacific Properties has ever offered, from condominium apartments and townhomes to cluster homes and single-family residences. Attracting young families, first-time buyers and downsizers, Uplands will be a neighbourhood of vibrant diversity and architectural excellence.

A Coastal Architecture

In 1945, West Vancouver became a birthplace of West Coast Modernism. This new architectural movement emphasized building in harmony with the natural elements on the Pacific Coast, including rocky outcroppings and forested slopes, while incorporating native timber and stone.

Arthur Erickson, Ned Pratt, Ron Thom and Fred Hollingsworth were the vanguard of this emerging style, and the iconic homes they designed are still admired today.

Rooms in Nature

The next generation of West Coast Modern architects is imagining and designing the homes at Uplands. The idea is visionary: Bring together leading proponents of the architectural style made famous here to create a neighbourhood experience that is both seamless and infinitely varied.

Olson Kundig, Battersby Howat, Saunders Architecture, Ramsay Worden and other architectural icons who understand these coastal lands have designed an extraordinary and diverse collection of homes that honour this landscape. The result is inspired – a neighbourhood of homes uniquely styled by architectural legends to suit a true array of lifestyles.

The Studio

Uplands’ neighbourhood amenity building is designed by Todd Saunders, a Canadian architect whose Norway-based practice has gained global acclaim for adding contemporary structural forms to rugged landscapes. The Studio’s three-storey lobby, light-filled spaces and expansive terrace celebrate natural sunlight, and its green roof complements the natural topography.

Immersed In Nature

These ancient woods are part playground, part retreat and offer a bounty of outdoor adventures close to home. Over 50 per cent of the Uplands neighbourhood is designated as a protected green space.

The Mountain Path

The pride of the British Properties is a newly created trail network that winds through the neighbourhood’s tranquil forest. The most prominent portion of this trail network is the Mountain Path, with over five kilometres of wide, paved stroller friendly walkways that hug the wild contours of this land.

These treasured passages begin at the community’s eastern edge, unfurling like ribbons through groves of maple, fir and cedar across a 200-metre trestle bridge to ultimately reach the future Cypress Village.

A West Vancouver
Community

An exceptional array of artistic, educational and recreational amenities are waiting to be discovered here in West Vancouver. Residences at Uplands are five minutes from the fastest routes to downtown and the all-season destination of Whistler Mountain.

Homes are within 10 minutes of the pristine powder of Cypress Mountain and virtually every desirable experience the North Shore has to offer – groceries at Caulfeild and Dundarave, the ferries at Horseshoe Bay, the shops, beaches, and seawalk of Ambleside, and the many fashion and dining destinations of Park Royal.

The First Neighbourhood
of the Future Cypress Village

An extraordinary vision is being planned next to Uplands – the creation of a dynamic mountain hub known as Cypress Village. With cafés, restaurants, bike shops, grocery stores and more set within a stunning mountain playground, the Village offers the promise of an extraordinary quality of life where nature and civilization meet.

You will be able to walk or bike along the forested Mountain Path from Uplands to the Village, where you can pick up fresh groceries for dinner or join friends for weekend brunch. Outdoor markets, festivals and other community events will offer neighbours a chance to gather in the Village’s buzzing public plazas. As an Uplands resident, you will uniquely benefit from the Village, living a 10-minute stroll away from this energized core while making your home in the tranquility of an established, forested neighbourhood.
